There are many attractions worth visiting in Florida, but the Everglades is one of the truly must-see destinations. It is a cornerstone of the $67 billion tourism industry, and the $13 billion outdoor recreation industry. As such, it contributes a significant amount to Florida’s economy, providing a livelihood to thousands of residents as well as tourism companies, including those that provide Everglades airboat tours. Should it disappear, it will leave an Everglades-sized hole in Florida’s coffers.
As you can see, protecting the Everglades is important on many levels, which is why everyone from Florida residents, local businesses, and even non-Floridians have a stake in the issue.
